First day back is going well so far. I was late to my first class. Naturally. It’s Biology and the teacher was doing a ‘get-to-know-you’ thing where she’d say if this scenario fits you, go to this side of the room, if not, go to this side of the room. Blah blah, we walked back and forth for a while. Lame and stupid. Then we got to dissect frogs!! I’ve never done that kind of thing before because I opted out in high school. The worst part was the smell of the formaldehyde. I ended up feeling sick to my stomach when I was done. I didn’t enjoy it a whole lot. Our frog was FULL of eggs and all the organs were pushed around and they were not where they were supposed to be so it was really hard to identify them. If it didn’t smell so bad, I wouldn’t have minded so much. Plus, the organs had no color at all except gray and dark gray so it was hard to figure out what that lump was compared to this other lump. So, WELCOME TO BIOLOGY!! Nice way to start my morning. My apologies to you vegetarians for the subject matter.
We had lecture after that and a 15 minute break before so I went to see if I could speak with an instructor who runs the tutoring lab to see if he’s going to hire me to tutor but he wasn’t in so I ran and got a snack and went up to the class. Wouldn’t you know it- I was late again. Ugh. I felt stupid. And then I’m sitting there and not 10 minutes later I am feeling like I have to pee really bad because of the UTI. So I hold it and wait and mentally bounce and when she starts talking about the online portion and said she’d show the class what the online program looks like, I jumped up and left to use the restroom since I know how all that worked and knew I wasn’t missing anything by leaving. We got out an hour early so I just came home to eat lunch and chill until my next class starts at 2:30. I’m determined to be on time for this class. Early even!
We are supposed to have our phone turned on today and I am dying to call Dave and see how his morning went but I can’t and it’s making me nuts. He had to take all of the kids to get their shots done since I’m in school and wasn’t able to do it myself. We’ve had a lot of glitches in things lately so I am wondering how things worked out, if they worked out at all. Nothing has been easy this month! Now I’m just killing time until my next class. It’s so quiet right now. It’s strange to be here alone and just hearing neighborhood noises. No kids yelling or fighting or laughing and joking and squealing. So this is what it’s like to have all your kids in school….tis very strange. I could get used to this.
I think I’ll do some straightening up before I leave. I’m always amazed at how fast the kids are able to trash any places they go. Clothes and blankets and toys and stuff just randomly dropped or tossed here and there. 30 minutes should be enough time to make it look a little better in here. I hate housework.
